For those that are current or former students. Were your faculty advisors in your dept? If you were an Epi student did you have an epi faculty advisor or were they in different department. I guess I am wondering how common it is to have a faculty advisor outside of your concentration. Thanks!

You should absolutely have an adviser within your department. My adviser at BU was in department (epi) and my PI I work with at Yale is, too (ehs).
