im having an issue with the advisor i've been assigned at Emory in the BSHE department. i've called them at least 4 times and left vmails in the past month with no call backs and emailed once with no return email. what do you do when your advisor seems to be ignoring you?? 😡 i understand they're busy but to not even have the time to shoot an email when its been over a month seems a bit ridiculous..especially when i'm trying to ask questions about the program before i make a decision. im getting really mad about this whole thing since the deadlines are looming. anyone else having the same issues or have an idea as to what to do?

Maybe he's sick and out of the office? I'll try calling the Department chair or the program coordinator and explain your situation. I'm not sure if this helps...

Snoofle....I have been lucky and had all great advisors in my current program. It is their professional obligation to assist you and this person is neglecting to perform a duty for which they will receive some recognition within their respective department and field. Address the issue now. Call the school and explain to them the situation. Ask for a new advisor. Tell them how excited you are to get started on the new track, what your interests are and they may assign someone who is more responsive. Don't get angry with this advisor though; always remain professional. good luck

thanks for the advice..i ended up calling the other BSHE advisor who answered their phone on the first try 😱 (first time for me!), answered all my questions, and they documented everything i told her about my other advisor and said they would follow up and try to make sure this wouldn't happen again

Who's your advisor? I was in the BSHE dept at Emory.....

how do you know who your advisor is at Emory? Either I totally skipped that part in my acceptance package or I don't have one...it would be totally helpful to talk to him/her!

I know in my department (GH) the advisor is assigned by last name. It should be on the RSPH website who your advisor is.
