I’m having a lot of trouble coming up with an advocacy essay topic.
Does anyone have any advice on which of the following ideas work best?
1. Advocating for my grandmother to get grief counselling after my aunt’s death: my grandmother lives in a very poor and traditional part of India where mental health isn’t really a thing. She was heartbroken after my aunt’s death and I persuaded her to get counselling and helped find her a counselor.
2. Standing up for child with autism in my community: people with autism are typically ostracized in my community and I stood up to people saying the kid was a punishment for his parents.
3. Advocating for a patient to join a clinical trial after he initially didn’t meet criteria: he was referred to a depression trial, but just based on his screening scores, he wasn’t eligible at first. I saw his demeanor and thought that he might not be fully capable of answering honestly, and I persuaded the physician PI to assess him again and he met eligibility.
