Was AED membership useful for anybody during the application process, or is it one of those things that really makes no difference? Thanks.

Makes no difference....but put it down anyway

I found it helpful at my school as it introduced me to other pre-med people who could give me advice in the admissions process. As far as putting it on my resume, I don't think it makes a great impact on your application.

if you hold an office, it shows leadership skills. Otherwise, they are just peers that can help

Yuck. That's not good advice to the aspiring gunner. 😉 It can be taken a bit too far where people say "you don't have any leadership??" It looks nice, but it doesn't really help.

I've always heard that it won't help you if you have it, but could hurt you if you don't (unless your involved otherwise). Involvement in clubs is overlooked by pre-meds and AED is an easy way to get involved at your school. I got a free trip to Washington DC, met the Surgeon General, and toured the medical museum and some med schools in DC all on AED's tab- I wouldn't trade the experience for anything -
