Does anyone have any information about these advanced education in esthetic dentistry (AEED) residencies. I have seen a few of them sprouting up but do not really know about the validity of these programs as they are not accepted by the ADA (according to the website for tufts AEED program:
http://dental.tufts.edu/118605645819...331314552.html)

Any info would be helpful, thanks.

To my knowledge, CODA(Comm. on Dental Accrediation) has no standards or accrediation for these. They accrediate all the recognized specialities, GPRs, AEGDs, Oral Medicine, and Oro-facial Pain.

You can check on the ADA site.

Like Robert said, the ADA only grants accreditation (through CODA) to 2 certain types of programs. One are the recognized post-graduate specialties (ortho, endo, pedo, OMFS, perio, etc.) and the other are residencies that fall under the broad scope of general dentistry (anesthesiology, oral and maxillofacial path, etc.).

The Advanced education in aesthetic dentistry may be a great education (or it may not be), and you may find it worthwhile. It isn't accredited because it is a bad program, but because the ADA does not accredit those types of programs.
