Is this an MS program or a DDS/DMD program? Can you throw some light on it. Thanks.
Think it is a certificate program- Advanced Education in General Dentistry(AEGD). Upon completion, you maybe eligible to practice in 8? states.

Hey there...well, like La Fea said the Advance Program in General Dentistry (AEGD) in Rochester is a two year lenght program mainly focus in clinical work, research and teaching. After the completition of the program u get a CERTIFICATE. My states were 3.86 gpa and 96 TOEFL that was it , I didn't take the NBDE .....( I'm planning to but not yet). I was top of my class and I worked for two years and a half as private practitioner. In the interview they ask me a bunch of personal questions... u know about ur future and what u want to do ...that's it.There is no stipend 4 this program.... I hope this help.... u can find more info in their website or if u e-mail the program coordinator. Wish u the best!!

thank you for information xandiar 25

Hi Xander25,
congratulations!
I got accepted to the AEGD program which will start June 1st.
Did you receive the package and the offer letter from the department ?

I am in Florida, where are you Xander25 ?
When will you plan to go to Rochester ?

hey senyum

can you please share your state

I am interested in AEGD program Iwant to apply next year

Hi dentousa,
My state: GPA 3.92.
I have my Ph.D and have been active as a post-doctoral fellow in US for 2.5 years, and had an intern in the department of dentistry (observer).
I have a lot of experience in research and published respectable amount of papers.
As Xander25, I am planning to take NBDE but not yet.

dentousa,
the AEGD program, in my point of view has 2 division sub-program (if I can say that).
One, as Xander25 mentioned above, is a 2-year lenght program.
Other is a 3-year length program that also focus on research, clinical work and teaching. The different is, the 3-year program more pointed to who has Master or Ph.D, or dentist who had experience in research field. For the 3-year program, the first year mainly do clinical research with part of the time do clinical work. Then the second and third year gradually focus on clinical work (Please ask Ms.Marilyn Foy the residency coordinator, for more detail info).
After the completition of both program, you get a CERTIFICATE and be able to take your license.

Hopefully this help!

thank you very much senyum

you give me very detailed information

thank you again

and you should try for master in dentistry as you have lots of clinical reserch experience

Hi Xander25,
the pleasure is mine. I am very sure, there is something very special in you (talent, ability, good character, high performance, etc.) that made you passed the screening too.

I received my package and the letter last week.
I am working on it and would like to send it back soon.

We (me and my family) are going to move to Rochester, NY in May also.
Maybe around the 20th of May, since I should finish my work here in FL.
Talk to you soon!
The package contain the housing option, please let me know if you decide which one you are going into. It will be nice if we could be a neighbor :luck:

Hi incision,

I received Ms.Foy called on January 21st and the program packaged early last week.

I wish you all the best :luck:

Hi tintuchop,
as I know the 2 and 3-year AEGD programs are fully subsidized by the university, which means no tuition fee will be applied :luck:
In my point of view these AEGD programs are the BEST of the country,
you could save on the other hand be able to take your license later on.

Wish you the best!

Hi Dentousa,

I would love to give more info, but I see that you have been asking the same question everyone.
It will be nice, if you can give some info about yourself, before enquiring about others.

🙂

ok

reason to asking everyone is that I am interested in this program but I could not apply this year and i will apply next year

My state is 84/par 2 preparing right now/2.9 /97

applied at nyu,bu, no call

My Profile:

I first applied in 2002 and was rejected. I did not do my NDBE and do not have experience in USA at that time.

Again applied in 2008.
As of today:
I completed NDBE Part I and II
Have been working as a dentist in two HealthCenters for a combined experience of over 6yrs
Graduated BDS from India in 1997
Presently, Asst. Dental Director at one of the HealthCenter.

I saw a change from both the interviews, since my resume had lot of changes, and I could feel more confident when I attended this time.

Hope this helps.

Let me know if I can be of any help.
