I heard that last year people accepted at Rochester got emails or calls by mid or end Jan....good luck to all

Guys,
I am not sure if this helps but nevertheless, I finally decided to join SDN and post a message. I interviewed at Eastman in Oct (I am sure I talked to a few of you while waiting in that crowded room).

Anyway, I got a call from Marilyn Foy last week, and she informed me that I have been accepted into the program for Dec 2010. She also informed me that she will be on vacation and an official letter will be mailed to me sometime in January.

I am new to SDN (may be because I haven't been a student in a long time) and may not fully understand SDN ethics (if there are any) or religiously post messages but I am certainly open and willing to indulge in mutually beneficial interactions with all of you.

Yes, I am an international dentist (but I have been away from dentistry for a few years now).

And yes, Dec 2010. I checked with her regarding July 2010 but I was told that the dates are decided by the education admin. at Eastman. Dec 2010 actually works out better for me anyway, so no complaints there.
 
If u don mind can u post in ur stats? And ur experience.. so that atleast we can estimate our loss!! Thnx!
 
TOEFL-CBT 293 (old format; was out of 300)
GPA 3.8
NBDE - not taken Part I or II yet
Research - hold a PhD from US; several years of experience in research (>10 publications as first or senior author) in high-impact journals.

Congrats, Modern man.

I told you once you earned PhD, they will take you. I think I learned my lesson not to apply in any program at eastman because I never had Master's or PhD or any experience in research.

Tumkam also got accepted for december. I knew her but she never told me, I knew from someone else.

I just got email from her saying she got accepted. I am so happy for her.

She also finished her master and now is finishing her 3 researches.

And wts the deal about dec 2010 and july 2010 batch ??
I thought all the accepted candidates start in july. is it the first time that they are doing this?

would someone like to share his/her knowledge on these issues.

No , they have two groups every year one in JUN and one in DIC. Congrats 4 the new residents!

I called Ms. Foy this morning 1-4-2010 and she said that she already mailed all rejection letters that are approved by the administration, and luckilly iam not on the list , she said that whatever list they gave her thats all she can mailed out... for us not on the rejection list, ...wait and hope...🙂
 
Matalin... THNKS A MILLION FOR THIS SUPERB NEWS!!! I hope the admins have quit on the rejection letters and now maybe.... just keeping fingers crossed and praying!!!

"she mailed last week" she 's still waiting for the admin. whatever they will give her to mail out again... she said i can call her again next week to update my application...hope thats help.:idea:

Yes, that is what it sounds like. I do not think they have sent out all the rejection letters (not that I am hoping for one). But they will have a few more to send out depending upon, who is on the wait list...these are just my thoughts, I do not know for sure.

Matalin6 last question for today - What do you mean by "update my application?" are you referring to - updating your application status (for your self) or do all of us have to call and ask to find out if we are in or out? Like the way we did for setting up appointments 😀

But yes I dread a secnd list of rejections!!!

what he meant to say was: "update of his/hers status"
 
It simply means that u cn call up mrs. Foyfor an update on ur status ofadmission- whether ur in or out or on waitin list
 
Did anybody hear anything this week/call Ms. Foy recently, any updates.
It's such an uneasy feeling being in this limbo
