i was attacked Feb. 24 by a large dog on my mid back. neither the owner or their vet has been able to provide proof of current vaccination. The local Sec de Salud (health dept) allowed the dog to remain on public beach tied to the owners restuarant.
The vet being aware of the attack and the quarantine, visited the animal on day either day 3 or 4 and gave the dog a rabies vaccination.

I was told this afternoon by Senior Health Department official, Director Sec. de Salud, Baja Calif Sur, that he felt that the vaccination would have no influence on the outcome of the quarantine.

I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE A SECOND OPINION, There have been too many examples of misinformation being given to me during this time period by various local officials.

Viewed from a distance, he is on a 5 meter chain, he appears to be in the same health as at time of attack (Feb 24 today is Mar 5)

Eitlher personal knowledge or a net reference dealing with this situation, please.

This is so not the place for a second opinion especially of this magnitude.

I'm confused... this in the US? Mexico? I see "Baja Calif Sur"

If the US, I would demand, right away, prophylaxis rabies treatment. I would also demand brain biopsy of the dog.

You have an aggressive dog with no shot record, possible in a foreign country...

AFAIK, a rabies vaccination would not effect a brain biopsy for antigens dFA - who knows or cares about the possibility of the vaccine delaying symptoms - You can get it before the dog dose - hence brain biopsy - this is scary and serious - I hope the health department is at least treating you.

You PMed me as well. Unfortunately, SDN is not a place for advice of this magnitude. Check with your personal (human) doctor for advice on the situation. Maybe he or she can be of help.
