I'm currently a third year medical student in the US and would like to participate in some type of international rotation in Africa during my fourth year. Does anyone know of any places in which I can find out some information? I would prefer a more adventurous route versus a major hospital. Thanks!

hey !
You could try to find out in Cameroon . It's an english/ french speaker country and there, they are a few major hospitals.
What do you need exactly?
bye

Hey Wire -

If there are any professors at your school or another school in your city who have projects in Africa, you may want to start by meeting with them. You may have to deal with fewer bureaucratic hurdles (and maybe save some $!) if you go as part of someone else's project.

Unite for Sight (http://www.uniteforsight.org/) seems to actively seek med students to work in Ghana (any maybe other places, you'd have to check).

Other sites have lists of places you can do international electives...
http://www.duke.edu/web/CMDS/Duke_rotation/international.html (really good list, with helpful tips and even a timetable)

I'd offer up more specifics sites, but I don't think my African experiences could be called adventurous. :)
