How long does it take to specialize after DDS / DMD and what is
the cost? Do the Dentalschools offer Teaching Assistantships
or any sort of financial support other than "Loans"? Otherwise,
getting any specialization will put a burdon in excess of $500,000
(Including DDS / DMD). Please help.

The specialization that you choose will depend on the amount of post-graduate training that is involved. GENERALLY, the dental specialties are completed in 2-3 years.

GENERALLY this is not a paid period of training, but is viewed as merely an continuing of education. Therefore, tuition is charged in these specialty programs.

There are some exceptions, however, and hospital-based specialty programs will typically allow the students to be paid under the title of "resident".

For example, a GPR or an OMS specialty program will pay their residents a stipend. Even this though, is under attack due to lack of medical educational funding.

Be assured that you must pay for the majority of specialty programs, including ortho, endo, etc.

You quoted a burden in excess of 500k, which is insanely steep, even for somebody who specializes. Most specialty programs charge a tuition of 15-25k a year. Even with living expenses on top of that, receiving the additional education shouldn't cost you more than 100k total (this is obviously a gross generalization).
