So the age old question when applying to med schools was after you are granted an interview-are all the interviewies pretty much on a level playing field and it is the interview that decides it? I mean considering you recieved the interview-does that mean all that part of your application was deemed successful enough for you to attend there-and it comes down to your personality and how well you would fit in there that is the clincher? Thanks guys!

No.

Wait. I shouldn't presume to have information about how things work at other residency programs. When we (residents) interview candidates at our program, we are asked to evaluate the applicant globally, on the basis of the entire package. That is, we are not given any instructions like "When you are in the process of formulating your recommendation to the admissions committee, please ignore the rest of the application package and instead focus on whether you think the applicant has a cool personality and whether s/he would fit well in our program".
