age and specializing

Being older will only help you when applying to specialty programs. Its much like hiring for a job. They want someone with maturity....and who they can stand to be around for the next few years.(plus the board scores,etc)

Chance are the people doing the selecting are 30+,40+,50+ and they all know that 30ish is not even close to being old. They also know that 25 is still young and clueless. They best way for someone who is young to specialize is to show they are serious and have thought it out.
