AHEC in Texas?

My school requires an AHEC rotation in the Summer between 3rd and 4th year. I'm in school at Louisville but I'm looking into going to Texas, where I am from, to do a 3 week rotation in an under served clinic. Does anyone know if the Texas Board of Dental Examiners allows students to do work in the clinics or if it is just shadowing? We are required to go somewhere that has us actually doing work.
