Unless something changed within the last few months, the Air Force will not allow you to join as a podiatrist until you are finished with school.

In other words, don't worry about it for another 5 years.... lol

Yeah,

I got an e-mail from a recruiter and got curious whether it's possible to join the navy, get the medical training paid for, and then go work for them. I got curious whether it's even a possibility.

The HPSP funding for podiatry got cut last year. I went through the process for a Navy scholarship and like a month before the new fiscal year, my recruiter found out podiatry HPSP got cut indefinitely. No other branches offered it. You are certainly welcome to call a recruiter in one of the branches, but I think you'll find the same thing I did.

Side note: I don't think the navy website ever got updated. I checked a few months ago, and it was still up saying it was offered. I called my recruiter back to verify (and another recruiter in a different part of the USA just to be sure), and it was still unfunded.

Also, I don't think the AF ever had the HSPS program for Pods. I think Navy was the only one.
