Detroit. If you haven't booked a hotel yet, I stayed at the Hampton Inn and loved it. I got a student discount (after tax was about $95) and the rooms are pretty nice. They even have a free shuttle service that takes you right in front of the dental school.

here's what i did....
Michigan Flyer shuttle from Detroit airport to Sheraton Hotel in Ann Arbor = $15
Sheraton was around $200 a night, so i stayed at a motel half a block away = $60/night. It comes with two queen size beds so you can try to split the room with someone if you can. The trick is you have to get the shuttle before 5 or 6 pm of you might have to do a taxi ($50/trip) if you reserve in advance.

Thanks for your input,
Is Hampton Inn near airport or closer to Ann Arbor?

It's in ann arbor and about a 10 minute ride to central campus (where the d-school is).

I believe its one of the hotels they listed when they send you an interview invite.
