Alabama Schools Thread Part 2!!

Does anyone else hate Alabama football, or is it just me?

I wouldn't say that I hate Alabama football... just the majority of Alabama fans. Not only because they are annoying, stuck in a past where cheating put them on top, or completely convinced of their "right" to be a football powerhouse but because they seem to think that the world owes them something just because they are Alabama.

Alabama has plenty of good about it as well but the side-walk alums and the Paul Finebaum disciples ruin all that with their overbearing douchebaggery.

Well said. Very insightful! Obviously the players are very skillful but the whole circus surrounding Alabama football is a bit much to those of us who do not drink the Kool-Aid.

You'd think that living 45 minutes away from Tuscaloosa would come with a slight decrease in the number of times you hear "Roll Tide" spoken per day. Sadly, it doesn't. I'm not into Auburn, either, but you don't hear their fans punctuating every sentence with "War Eagle" instead of a period. Don't believe me? Go to Innisfree on a Thursday night and strike up a conversation with the nearest red-faced male wearing a fishing shirt and visor with his hater-blockers slung around the back of his neck. I've actually had someone introduce himself as "John Doe, Roll Tide."

I have yet to meet a hardcore Blazer fan, though. Thank god.

Thats because we suck!!! And for some reason the majority of the football team walk around like their **** dont stank

Best said yet...I'm not originally from the south but when I moved here I was floored with how many obnoxious rednecks make up the Alabama football fanbase. At least 80%. With that said, I have many great friends that are Alabama fans and are the complete opposite of what I just said. Auburn fans are much easier to get along with in my opinion. But the rivalry is great!

I'm selling my Examkrackers Complete Study Guide, along with the 1001 Q's Biology, Organic Chemistry, Physics, and Chemistry.

I'm willing to give someone a deal, if they are in the Birmingham area the next 3 weeks and I don't have to ship it.

I suppose the pocket change would have been nice, but my 12 gauge was the last thing my own MCAT review books ever saw.

Just an FYI that South is still sending out scholarship letters since I know of at least one person that just got one.

Scholarship packets? They need to work on sending me an acceptance packet! :scared:

Hey Guys!
Just wanted to let you know I've been accepted off tier 3 to UAB. I have already sent in my final acceptance to South Alabama. I still have the opportunity to pull out and go to UAB but I feel strongly that South Alabama is a better fit and a better school for me. Good luck to all!

When were you accepted off the UAB waitlist?

I was accepted off the UAB waitlist from the lower tier on Friday. I'm sticking with South though, I notified them Monday, so hopefully that opens a spot for someone.

Well hopefully that means one of us who is waitlisted to UAB--and only UAB--will be able to get in within the next week. Good luck at South, and congrats to whoever gets into UAB from this.

I just got an email from UAB-MSTP program, and it said that they looked over my MCAT scores and would like for me to apply to their MSTP program. The thing is, I didnt send a primary to UAB nor have I ever had any contact with them. Did anyone else get this email? Was it an automated thing that got sent out to a ton of people?

I think I remember getting that. Not sure though

I got it too. I think that it goes to people who make a 30 or higher on their MCAT's.

Well I guess that squashes the last tiny bit of hope I had of getting in off the waitlist. I guess there is always next year..

That sucks man. Ill be in the same boat as you soon. At least you weren't mislead into believing you were gonna be accepted

I was pretty sure that I was going to get into UAB, sure enough that I skipped my interview at South to go on a spring break trip. I guess that is my own fault though.

Apparently I am 2nd or 3rd in line on the USA waitlist. do you guys think theres a chance I'll get called up before class or is that kind of last minute change very unlikely? :scared:

There is always that chance, but since you are second or third in line I wouldn't be counting on it. You might want to find out when orientation starts for USA then that should give you some idea. Have you started re-applying yet?

USA's orientation starts next Wednesday (August 5th). Have you guys gotten your feedback from the schools yet? Last year, I got a straight rejection from South and was lower tier at UAB. This year, I was waitlisted at both schools and am going to attend USA. Having to sit out another year is not a big deal, just be productive. The feedback is very important at UAB. All three of my interviewers at UAB asked me what the feedback said to work on and what did I do to improve my weakpoints.

I just read an article in Sports Illustrated about Tim Tebow. I really respect that guy. I am pretty sure he will do a number on Alabama again this year. Keep drinking the Gatorade.

Does anybody know the earliest that UAB sends out secondaries?

Bite your tongue! No one takes Alabama football in vain!

Sometimes, when I am really drunk, I will just scream: "Roll, Tide, Roll." And everyone in close proximity gets really annoyed. Probably because I am in the Northeast and nobody has any idea what I am screaming about.

And then I will murmur, "God Bless the Snake", referring of course, to Kenny "the Snake" Stabler, the great Alabama quarterback, and not some part of my anatomy.

So, another application cycle is starting and most of you are probably sending in your secondaries at this point. If you have any questions about interviewing at UAB or South, shoot them my way.

I'm at South right now, so I can offer some input on the environment, why I picked it over UAB, etc.

So now that we are beginning a new cycle and a new football season, what do you guys all think of Tim Tebow? Is he the Prince of Darkness, or just a good ole boy from Florida? Is he still Alabama's every year worst nightmare? He seems sincere and a genuinely nice guy. Just a thought. Yeah, I know, you med students are not football fans, not enough time. But geez, relax and have some fun on Saturdays this fall. Flip on the game and check it out and eat some BBQue.

At the NFL combine yesterday, Tebow's 3-cone drill time was 6.66 seconds... you do the math.
