quick question about Albany:

does anyone still have the slip of paper with the names of interviewers on it? i misplaced mine (sigh) and need the address where i send correspondance. is it just the admissions office address?

luckily i remember the name of my interviewer 😳

FYI for folks, my app was complete Nov 1 and I just got an interview about a week ago. Decided to turn it down so I hope it goes to one of you! good luck all.
 
My app has been complete since the end of time (reality, end of August) and I have yet to hear if I am being invited or rejected. I'm assuming I'm not invited, but man I wish they would just ax me by now if they're gonna do it!

Zues, we interviewed on the same day..

I heard from somebody that last year not even a single person got in from the UC category.. I am doomed !

The under consideration category is where they draw their waitlist from, so what you're saying would essentially mean that they didn't take anyone at all off of the waitlist, which I find highly unlikely.
 
You are right that they didn't accept anyone from the waitlist last year, but you are not doomed. At the info session they told us that last year they experienced an increase in their matriculation rate. Without dipping into the waitlist they already had more than their target number of students.

They made it sound as if they were going to be much more conservative this year. Hopefully that means there will be more waitlist activity. Good luck!

I had been put in the Under Consideration pool after my interview and have subsequently been accepted. I did withdraw though so :luck: to everyone waiting for an interview and waiting post-interview.

I wish....I can't believe I've only been waiting less than two months, it feels like eternity! Just think, only 5 months til the end of August, when we'll know for sure 🙄
 
Apart from the hold w/o interview a month ago, nope.
 
Been complete since August, still not even a hold. I think I'm dead to them...
 
I was put on hold about a month ago, im not sure when to even expect to hear anything else again.
 
Completed my app in July, offered an interview last week, just turned it down this morning. Good luck to all!
 
I interviewed on January 17th, was placed in the 'Under Consideration' category on January 24th, and have not heard anything since. 🙁
 
did anyone else receive that financial aid email requesting that you go to a certain website and do an online workshop kind of a thing before they can complete your financial aid package?

Imm currently in the UC category too..
 
i have my interview this thursday... still considering whether or not to go lol.. need to buy my train ticket soon if i want to go. someone convince one way or the other?!?
 
I'm in UC category too.. I did not receive that fin aid package.. May be they're looking favorably at you .. Good for you !

depends whether u got in somewhere else or not.. If you did get in somewhere else that is better than Albany -- then please leave a possible spot for us 🙂
 
I was just offered an interview today and they had slots on five different days this month for me to choose from. Just thought someone out there would like to know they are still offering interviews.🙂
 
yeah i got into wayne state, which is in state for me. but my bf is in boston, and albany is quite close to boston.... and i haven't been to albany before so i don't know what it's like...

if you're going to marry him then it's worth the extra tuition. If you're not, then probably stay in state and save yourself a buttload of money
 
getting from albany to boston on a regular basis on a med students time isnt that easy either
 
Got an interview invite today after being complete waaaaay back in August. Yay! They also had four days to choose from, the week of April 21 (Wed and Thurs) and the week of April 28 (Wed and Thurs). There's still a few invites out there!

Also, good luck to all of you in the UC category! I'll probably be joining you soon if the interview goes well...

I actually did a ton of research on how Albany's process works when I got my invite, and it seems like they do every year, but the timing depends on how many people are declining acceptances or what the interviewee pool looks like. If they let us know some hidden gems of info when I'm there, I'll try and message you to let you know what the game plan is at that point in the year. With me interviewing so late, though, I would assume you will have either heard by then, or be waiting until after May 15 when they have more movement and then make the final wait list. i was in the UC category after my interview in......can't remember...i received an email asking me to complete this financial aid tutorial that basically made sure that i knew what i was getting myself into with financial aid. less than a week later i got an email notice saying that i'd been accepted, with snail mail to come in a couple weeks. good luck to all those still waiting!
 
Any news from Albany for ppl in the UC category? Is there going to be a big movement soon?
 
No news here...I've been in the Under Consideration category since January. Is it May 15th that applicants with multiple acceptances must make a choice? Maybe then there will be some movement, hopefully.

I'll post up what I remember them saying when I was there just a few weeks ago for my interview...the waitlist will be made at the beginning of June. They are actively accepting people from the under consideration category at the moment, to try and create a full class. They wait until June to create a waitlist because they want to offer acceptances to people in the under consideration category when the masses withdraw right at May 15.

Mrs. Nanos said that they have greatly altered the number of outright acceptances they offered this year, as they want to be able to utilize their waitlist. They will pull people from the UC category after May 15 til sometime in June, when an official waitlist will be created. They plan on drastically cutting the UC category down to create the waitlist, so there is really maybe only another month of having no idea where you stand on the UC category. Then we will either have been accepted (to fill in after May 15), placed on the waitlist (meaning we were somewhere in the middle of the UC pack), or rejected from UC and not placed on an official waitlist (at the bottom of the pack with no real shot anyways). Good luck guys, just a couple weeks left in the land of not knowing!
 
and LOIs make no different at albany cause we're all numbered already so we just sit tight? :luck:

Thanks! I remember them saying that the waitlist will be made out of the UC category. The UC category will be reviewed every time the committee meets and some may get acceptances. Good luck to everyone still waiting! :luck:

i sent mine in at the end of march and they told me i will get it sometime before the end of may. still waiting here.

I was accepted today from the under consideration category, so things are definitely on the move over there! Also, if anyone has any info about financial aid (do they give out money, how long does it take to get your package, etc) I'd take it. I'd like to make a prompt decision to give someone else a shot at whatever school I don't pick...

I didn't interview there until May 1, so I didn't have anything new to update them with after the interview since my grades were already in before I went (I just took the update with me hard copy to the interview). I got the UC notification on May 7, and was offered an acceptance early today (around 9 am EST)! Other than that, I hadn't had any contact with them. Good luck you guys!

They send you a packet with some forms to fill out, and one of them is the albany medical college financial aid application. It's pretty basic, especially for us kids about to start med school, and after i sent that back to them it took about a week and a half for them to get my package together. I called them and got the details of it before it came in the mail, so you can always do that. They did not, however, give me any free money in addition to the 65k in loans that they offered so here's hoping my withdrawn spot goes to someone on this board.

btw...scowdeva...you're waitlisted/accepted at 3 of the 4 schools that I am....are you following me around?
