what exactly do they mean describe myself? is it supposed to be my hobbies outside of medicine, or an overall discussion of my life?

Last year, I wrote about my hobbies, what I value (family, friends, and education), what I hope to become (ie. which specialty) and why I think I would be a good fit at Albany (briefly). I did a pretty rough job and still got an interview, so don't stress too much over it. It's suppose to be an easy secondary.

The question describe yourself is another way for them to ask "What makes you unique". In other words how are you different from the other applicants.

This is your chance to tell them why they should admit you instead applicant John Doe who has exactly the same stats and credentials as you do.

SO even though it is supposed to be easy, I would make it count and meaningful.

The prompt is somewhat challenging... but the 1000 character limit is the true pain in the arse. There's only enough room to mention superficial details.

Yeah, it's not one of those essays that is comming easily to me, I feel like writing "please see AMCAS for information". But since that's not going to cut it, I'll have to figure something else out. A nice glass of scotch usually helps

overdeducated... nice mdapplicant link. Very detailed and nicely organized.

I got secondary invite today. I will work on it this week and hopefuly send it in by Sunday. Have lots of work to get done for other things. Crazy week/month/year.

ahaha! I must've failed that secondary, because they promptly placed me on "hold" after they read my description of myself. 😉 !

I have to confess... I stole that nicely organized date format from someone else. I think I saw it in Doko's profile. It's more compact using abbreviations, leaves more room for comments later on.
