i've been told by my advisor that einstein selects applicants based upon "unique" experience or accomplishments, more so than high numbers. i don't know how far that holds true.

I disagree. I think it depends on what you're interested in. You can do searches on both Einstein's and MSSM's web pages and pull up their match lists (Sinai's is 3 years more current, I think).

I'd apply to both if you're interested in both, because the whole process is unpredictable. You never know what's gonna happen, and you may be surprised at where you get in (or don't).

Look, like one of the posters has already said, the whole thing is one big frickin crapshoot. If you really really love one school over another (i.e. Sinai over AECOM), but Sinai's stats are slightly higher than AECOM, then apply to Sinai. My limited experience during this admissions process has been that your interest and enthusiasm for a given school counts for a lot. Schools want people with solid stats-- stats tell them that you can do the work required in medical school, but they also want students who really want to be at THEIR school. If I say "school" one more time, I'm going to whack myself in the head.

I agree with Silas, apply to schools you want to goto. Do research and see what you like about each choice. Don't just pick and choose schools simply because they are less selective or the average stats are lower, as many of us know this entire process is a gigantic crap shoot. If you are interested in Roch, Sinai and AECOM then apply because you know never know what will happen. Better to just try your luck rather than wondering the what ifs down the line. Just my 2 cents.
