I'm currently a student at a community college majoring in English and working on some of my pre-medicine prereqs, and I've been debating with myself if I should change my major. If I change my major, I might change it to something like Clinical Laboratory Sciences or Medical Technology, but I've been hearing that if you major in something that's in the Allied Healths that it would be harder to get into medical school. I love literature and writing, but if I don't get into medical school, I really don't see what else besides teaching that can allow me to use it. I know there are other jobs out there but with the economy the way it is, and plus the fact that there are tons of English majors out there, it doesn't seem like those jobs come by so easy. Plus if I don't get into medical school, I would still like to work in the healthcare industry, and I'm very much interested in doing research and things of that nature. If I don't get into medical school, I do plan on applying more than one time, it's just that I would feel better with a back up plan that I could live with and could give me a career that I would enjoy. I guess my questions is, is it true about what they say about Allied Health majors and trying to gain acceptance into medical school?
