Hi,
I am in need for some advice on what books I should use for the new mcat. I took the old mcat already and to study for it I used TBR for chem, physics, and orgo and TPR for biology.

For the new mcat, should I still buy new book for chem, physics, and orgo? I already plan on doing the khan academy questions. As for biology and biochemistry, should I buy the newer version of TPR or switch to another companies resources? If so, which one? Biology is my weakest subject so I do not mind buying new books.

For verbal, I have the EK books and TPR hyperlearning verbal workbook? Will this still work of the new mcat ? If not, which book should I buy?

And finally, which resource is best for psychology and sociology?

Thank you in advance 🙂

No book will ever be good enough if you dont use the new AAMC outline, when studying have that side by side......

Books are just books, mostly everyone of them will be the same....

Pick up Kaplan Biochem (supplement TBR Bio biochem chapters), TPR Psych + Kaplan Psych + khan academy vids

Organic keep it simple (TBR would be a bit overkill, but if you must then you can)
Physics + Chem: TBR (people say no, but you dont want to take an exam that has a lot of physics in it and then worry about it)

And last but never least

Passages passages passages.....im studying for 3 months.....

Month 1 is mostly content

Month 2 is mostly passages and full lengths with a little bit of content when needed

Month 3 is all full lengths and the final nail in the coffin to bury this damn beast known as mcat 2015

Good luck friend.

There's a new mcat now? What's different? I'm in residency now.

Haha. Long story short: all sciences are now tested in a biological context, biochemistry is a large component of what used to be the PS and BS sections, and there are now 4 sections with the 4th testing you on the psychological, sociological, and biological bases of behavior.

And your total score is now in a range of 472-528.

Also it's like twice as long.

Check out the compilation of commentary on the new exam in my signature.

Nice job making sure it was your first post that said that, this time. 😉

That feature is a bit strange, but I can see the logic. If someone's posting multiple times on a page, why fill up the page with replications of their signature when it has already been displayed? But then again, it's less convenient to have to go back and find their first post. Compromises, compromises.

I, uh, don't know what you're taking about. (~feel awk just thinking about it~)

Have you tried EK biochem? Or should I just stick with Kaplan's biochem for content and practice.

I cant speak for ek as i have not used them but EK gives you nuts and bolts. If you need to learn the biochem tbr bio chapters are really good with a kaplan or EK supplement. But ek or kaplan alone will not cut it if you are trying to learn.
