Alternate List for CCOM

when did you interview at CCOM? have you tried calling/e-mailing them and finding any information out? I tried to know if there has been any movement on the waitlist and possibly find out where I am on the waitlist (top, bottom, middle) and they wouldn't tell me ANYTHING.

I want to know because I really want to go to CCOM but I got accepted to NSU-COM in Florida and well I would hate to put down money for a place there only to get accepted to CCOM and lose a lot of money. Plus, I just really wanna go here...

I interviewed in mid march. I recieved a waitlist notice soon after. I also really want to go to this school. Ive sent in more letters of rec. A couple of letters of intent and have made several calls to the admissions department but have not heard any real info either. I was told however that the waitlist is unranked. I guess that means every one on the list has a review before an acceptance is given. No Idea how many are on the list though, or how much movement there will be.
 
I gave up my spot about 2 months ago. I hope someone got it 🙂 They confirmed my withdrawal via phone and by email -- Best of luck to everyone...CCOM was a great school in a wonderful area.

PCOM was my first-choice DO school though 🙂 They kept me in suspense from October until March -- five months -- until they accepted me, so I know what it's like to be on the edge of your seat. Best of luck!!
 
yeah nick i've pretty much done all that too...although when i call into the office i usually talk to a secretary/administrative assistant...but yeah I really can't wait...CCOM is literally across the street from my house...I interviewed on the FIRST day back in September and have been waitlisted since then...kinda sucks that the list isn't rated because here I thought that since I was invited to interview so early that I would have a better chance of getting in (just going based on what they told us that day at CCOM)...

praying that I get in...

I got word that the alternate list has indeed had some movement, unfortunately not yet in my favor. I'd REALLY like to go there too!

ahhh so the alternate list HAS seen movement huh? guess not in my favor yet either...

Has anyone heard anything yet about the alternate list at CCOM? From my understanding they started to accept people off of the list last week. I havent heard anything though. Good luck everyone.
 
not sure yet Nick...I just e-mailed them today and hopefully I get some type of answer from them...if I get in I'll take everyone who has posted on this thread out to dinner...

im definitely down...man there's this persian restaurant like TWO minutes from Midwestern called Reza's....there are three locations in Chicago...one on Clark...one on Ontario...and the other one is right by MWU...i know the owner personally so he takes care of me...the food is freakin delicious...i will DEFINITELY take you out for dinner or lunch when we both get in...totally on me soon to be dr. neuronick 🙂

Reza's is mad good.
It's nice to see people with a vested interest trying to get into CCOM. I hope you 2 get in. Its people like you that are committed to the school whom should be students there. Good luck.
 
Rezas is a great place. Ive eaten at the one on Ontario several times. Lamb is good, dill rice is excellent. Thanks for the support bigdog8829. CCOM is by far my top choice school. I want it so bad I can taste it. Hope they make a decision soon.
 
man Reza's is the STUFF man...like I said I know the owner so when I go there he usually hooks me up with some mushrooms or hummus or some type of appetizer...or sometimes dessert and tea after the meal...man it's all about the combination medium-well...haha i sound like such a fatty...

CCOM is definitely my first choice too...i interviewed on the FIRST possible day and talked to a guy who used to be on the admissions committee and he said that 97 and sometimes 100% of the people who interview on the 1st day get accepted...sucks to be that douche in the 2% that didn't...although I am very hopeful and have been e-mailing them and sending in more LORs and letters of intent...if any of you hear anything let us know...

Thanks GatorsWearJorts. I call CCOM once a week to check on waitlist movement, and I dont think that I could send in any more LOI's or Rec letters. I keep my phone on me at all times just in case "the call" comes. In short Im going crazy waiting. I know you can relte altipalti. Now, if more people could just be like GatorsWearJorts....
 
ok im on the phone with MWU right now...and they said that there are 140 people on the waitlist and that "there hasn't been any movement from the waitlist as of yet" but the lady I talked to didn't know anything...she though class and orientation was the last week of August when in fact it starts July 30 and classes begin August 6...

she said that they will review all applicants on the waitlist and that there is no "ranking" but yeah seeing as how she wasnt sure about the start date I don't even know if she knows about this either...

ahhhh im going nuts here...really I am...hmmm I think im gonna go eat some corn nuts...I hope everyone that is as anxious to get into CCOM as I am get in so we can have Reza's together!

any news yet from you nick or anyone else about CCOM? if you hear anything or find anything that is even remotely relevant than post it here...im really stressed out with all this waiting...i've done everything that I can do...sent in NUMEROUS letters...and like 6 more LORs as well...

I was taken off the waitlist (got the call last week) but declined the acceptance. Hopefully that helps some of you out! 😀
 
aw man that's great that you declined the seat...I didn't get a call so I'm assuming someone else got the phonecall and not me...ahhh I really hope I get a phonecall from CCOM...once I get in I'm gonna get you in to Nick!

Nothing yet for me. Im still holding out for a call, but am coming to the realization that its already the 4th of July, and that there is really not much time left. All I can hope for now is several people to drop spots and several more to not accept them.

hang in there! there's still a few weeks till orientation, i heard they can call people even as close as the day before classes still! keep showing that interest :luck::luck:
 
yeah man i agree with cebenedic...keep your head up bro...trust me i know how you feel and as every day passes by then i get a little more distraught but they can call you up until the first week of classes...so August 6 classes start...they can potentially call you after school has already started...keep on sending in letters and stuff and keep your attitude positive...trust me it will take you far in life...

as you guys are waiting it out, do not expect a phone call.
the reason i say this is bc if you plan on applying again, the time is now. i would not reccomend waiting until the mwu year starts and then filling out the aacomas.
 
hi guys, just getting hip to the sdn, sorry for the late reply on all these thoughts. i interviewed CCOM on april 13th, and just heard from them on june 30th that i was going to be pulled off the list. and the wait sucked! i feel for you- good luck and stay positive.
 
i'm still on the waitlist for ccom too...and i REALLY want to attend...been doing the best i can - i sent in a couple additional lors, shadowed a student there, attended the mini- medical school sessions, sent in another letter of cotinued interest, updated resume..and still no word from midwestern...

at least there's some peace in knowing i'm doing the best i can.

but i'm remaining hopeful. if it doesn't work out this year, i can always try again. but let me know if you guys know of any more movement. good luck to you all.

I saw someone wrote in the ccom facebook group got off the waitlist only a couple days ago...so the waitlist is moving at least 🙂 i think someone wrote this already, but if you are on the waitlist, still fill out that AACOMAS anyway and get the ball rolling. good luck! :luck::luck:

I just got the phonecall this morning and couldn't believe it! I'm going to CCOM!

Nick...dawg...keep at it...e-mail the deen every week and write letters every week also...I want to see you there with me bro...so we can kick it at Reza's as scheduled...man I am so happy...

Thats awesome Altipalti! Im so happy for you. Im just about to finish up some wedding planning and write CCOM Admins another letter. I am hoping like hell that I get a call in the next 2 weeks because if I dont its yet another MCAT test for me in August. I hate studying for the MCAT, and I seem do do it every other year. Anyway congrats, and get ready to start studying.

I am the one getting married in september altipalti. I have another piece of great news. I just got a call from Mr. Laken yesterday afternoon, and after thinking about it for about 1/4 of a second, I decided to acept a spot in the CCOM class of 2011. See you all in two weeks!
