alternate list for DMU

🙁 just got an email from DMU today..I'm on the alternate list......feel like crying...I really really really like DMU....is there's still a chance? anyone out there who got acceptance off of the alternate list??
what should I do? is ther ANYTHING I can do???? ...>_<

Oct 7th, I think you interviewed on the same day right? Did you get your acceptance today? I just got it the email.....I'm sooo sad...

I did interview the same day. I haven't heard a word yet, so I'm getting more and more nervous.

We'll see, but there is always hope. The school was simply amazing.

I got accepted to my state school (read as: lower tuition), so I will be giving up my DMU spot. It is a great school, and if not for financial considerations, I would have accepted their invitation of acceptance.

So, I will be freeing up a spot for someone. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you jjcandy! It is a great school. 🙂

From my understanding, last year they didn't accept anyone from their alternate list. Like many schools, they accepted more than they anticipated would matriculate. However, they underestimated the number of acceptees who chose to attend DMU. So the class of 2009 is larger than they had planned.

Good luck with the rest of your interviews.

That's hard to swallow..oh well...I guess that's reality, just wondering where you heard about this situation? Do you know how many people they keep on the alternate list, and how they rank it exactly? Does it matter if you applied earlier or later?

I freaking hope not ericado. There is no way they filled their class already. I can't see that being true.

They for sure haven't filled their seats yet... I think that people are waitlisted because the committee does not have a GOOD reason to reject you. So I would call and ask what you need to do to improve your file and just show them that you know would be a valuable addition to the school. Show interest and be persistent and don't stop improving your application (volunteer, class, experience etc...) Good luck!!! And like soundman said at least it is not a rejection, there is still hope!

They couldn't have filled their class already because it's too early. From what I hear from admissions people, they put you on the alternate list because they like you but they still want to see other people before making an acceptance offer. That's not good news for me!! lol, I have a 3.5 and 21P MCAT!! Hopefully I blow em away at the interview
