Hi everyone! I am fairly new to SDN. I want to thank everyone for the advice, words of encouragement, and faith that you have in each other. It is so nice!
I need your opinion(S): As far as the famous "Alternate List" is concerned, why do you think so me candidates are put on this list. Some people have great grades, wonderful LOR, meaningful work experince...ect... Maybe the MCAT is off by 2 points compared to someone else who got the "YES" right away, but the experiences of the "alternate" is much more extensive and consistent and the shadowing of the D.O has been for way longer. Aaaaaah, I know it sounds like I am bitter/sad/disappointed....Sometimes it just does not seem fair. I just need some advice on this from anyone who has experienced this or is familiar with it somehow. Thank you. Congratulations to all who have been accepted and to those who have to wait until later to find out---HAVE FAITH!!!!!!!!

I agree with everything you said colombianita. Its like we are good enough, but just not right now, maybe later.

It stinks. The waiting begins...

A lot of it is based on your interview. You received an invitation, so you know that the school is ok with your numbers and such. Even if you have a great record on paper, if there was something off about your interview, it has a great impact on the final decision. If you didn't feel comfortable with your interview, try practicing with a friend or somebody, because it can help with how you approach questions and present yourself.

Finally, don't take a spot on the alternate list personally. I mean, you only spend like 30 minutes with your interviewers. It wouldn't hurt to express interest in the particular school where you are waitlisted.
