Has anyone gotten off waiting list or know friends who got in last year off it. What schools and what time of year?

I am on such a list at Nova. It has put me in a very awkward situation. I don't know what I am going to be doing in Aug. So I don't know if I should be getting ready to take the MCAT again, apply for a job and/or graduate school.... Some of the graduate school application deadlines have already past!

I have my third and most likely last interview on Thurs. (for this year). I can't stand the waiting. Every time I go to open my PO box my heart starts racing etc.. I don't know how much longer I can take this. One day I checked my box three times and there was new mail in it each time. I would like to find out one way or another. It's not very reassuring knowing that I may have to wait till Aug. to find out that I was not taken of the "wait list"! I could not imagine getting a phone call in Aug. with the person saying this is ______ with ____ COM, one of our students did not show up for classes and we were wondering if you could come down here today so that you can start classes tomorrow? I was told by one of my interviewers that it does happen. Well got to get some sleep, I'm flying to my "last" interview tomorrow.

NJDevil,

The answer is yes. I have heard of several people getting in after being on the alternate list. I don't know exactly what the admissions commitee does to accept students on the alternate list, but seeing that most schools have a rolling admissions cycle, chances are that alternates fill in spaces left by potential students withdrawing their acceptances.
Good luck,
Duke
