I just found that I was put on the alternate list for OKSU. Is there anyone here who was also put on the list but got in? I am really freaking out but I know there is still a chance of getting in, I just don't know how much of one.

I got in off the wait list, but it wasn't until June that I found out. The wait list for Okstate actually moves pretty quickly. It's not a top choice school for a lot of people and many will go out of state even though it's a lot more expensive to do so. No guarentee of course, but I would say you still have a pretty good shot. :luck::luck:

I was put on an alternate list for Auburn. My vet told me not to get excited because she was #4 for an alt list and didn't get it. (thanks for the support 😉) I don't know where I was on the list, but I got called the first day (the day that all acceptance letters had to be mailed back to the school by the incoming freshmen). Our school was still calling alternates 2 weeks before school started! I think there is still hope, but there is also going to be alternates that don't get in... so try to stay sane and good luck!

I'm actually an alternate for OKSU as well. It was very exciting and surprising since I'd be an OOS student and my IS school turned me down. I'm curious to know if there are different waitlists for OOS and IS students. I'd imagine so bc most schools seem to have some kind of IS/OOS quotas. I'm also kind of curious how long this so-called list is since they won't tell us where we are on it.
Being an alternate is very frustrating... I just wish there were some kind of statistics on percentages of alternates matriculated and stuff like that. It would really help me in attempting to plan the upcoming year.

But I was thinking, since we can't know our place in line... maybe we can call up the school before April 15th and just ask how many IS or OOS people have confirmed that they are attending. I'm pretty sure they'd tell us considering OKSU's Net Vet Weekly internet magazine in the past has posted that kind of information. (Thats a good resource as well for this alternate situation!)
Well, best of luck to you on getting that spot! 😉 I know I'll be biting my nails here in Texas come April 15th! lol

From what I have heard, there are tons of people on the alternate list this year. I know of at least 5 and a friend of mine knows of a few more. One of the doctors I work with said maybe they are trying something new out this year so they are wait listing more people. All I know is that it is so frustrating having to wait even longer. I've just decided to pretend like I was rejected and then I won't be too upset if I don't get in. I'm just gonna work at the hospital another year and apply again. Its really tough but I just know eventually those who really want to get in will.
