  1. Attending Physician
Hello!

I received an alternate status notification from Creighton University School of Medicine. I was wondering if anybody knows the chances I can probably get accepted of the alternate list, both in general and for those familiar to Creighton's procedure. Are alternate lists of applicants handled universally the same or depends upon the school?

Thanks once again for your input.

I don't know about the alt. list.. but I just got my fin aid package and I doubt i will attend so my spot is about to open. GL

dr midnight - did you have to do anything other than fill out the FASFA to get your package?

I am pretty sure there is significant movement on Creighton's alternate list each year. They interview and accept early in the cycle, so people alway's accept them right off the bat, then decide to go elsewhere later on when they are accepted to other schools.

I will likely be dropping my acceptance to Creighton as well in about a week. Would like to see what their financial aid office has to say though.

every year, it is different. Last year, I know a lot of WL people found out right on June 1 or little after that.

Did any of you just get your letter? If so, did you interview in February?

no I just filed fasfa an I got no fin aid.... I am a poor student I don't know why. it makes it too expensive for me so I will be dropping soon I liked the school tho

I am writing my withdraw letter today.

COA this year: $64,497

My financial aid package: $64,450.00 in loans...thanks.

I've always heard that there is alot movement on the wait list at Creighton, especially in the middle and end of May.

However, when I was wait listed at Creighton 2 years ago, I went and met with admissions in April, and they blatantly told me that "no one else is getting into med school this year" and went on to say that their class was already full of people that had fully committed to Creighton.

So, as far as movement goes for this year, they are the ones with the real answer. It is expensive to go to CU, but it's a nice school with great professors..good luck with everything.

I'm on the waitlist too, I'd like to know as well when the waitlist gets moving. I really liked the school and would love to go there if accepted. Is there any way you can get accepted off the waitlist before may? say if people who have been accepted drop their acceptances.

waitlisted today....interview went flawlessly, maybe I was just too late. sucks

For all you waitlisters, I'm fairly certain the COA will defer a lot of people with multiple acceptances to go elsewhere.

For those who felt their interview was perfect and still got waitlisted, remember that when Creighton reviewed your app and decided to interview you they could have taken a chance by considering you further and already decided that you would either be rejected or waitlisted. That said, since your interview went so well you may have earned the better of the two outcomes. Also, lots of waitlist movement is likely so just wait and see.

Frikarika, did they tell you that you were waitlisted over the phone, or did you receive a letter from them?

I was just going to ask that. They called me to say I was on the alternate list. What about everyone else?

Well I called to check my status. I suspect even though they say all interviews are for acceptances, that these late feb interviews are mostly for waitlist. But I seems like a lot of people who get into creighton go other places, so we'll see.

Frikarika,

I see that you mentioned late February interviews. When did you interview? In addition to your perception that late Feb. interviews are mostly for waitlist, I interviewed on Feb. 1 and I got myself waitlisted. If that is the case then we must extend the waitlist pull to as early as my week too. All I can say though is that I too had a good interview but not the decision I wanted.
