Is anyone working in an alternative career in dentistry? After 3 years of practicing, I'm looking to get out of private practice. Long story short, I have anxiety about going to work every day, I can't handle the stress of dealing with patients anymore. I've been looking for other careers like dental insurance claims adjustor, but all I'm finding on sites like indeed and ziprecruiter are positions for high school diploma holders, not dentists. Anyone know how to get into that type of position as a dentist? I've also tried looking at insurance websites like delta dental but I haven't found anything.

I'd love to get into teaching, but I'm basically a new grad, so I don't know who would hire me. I've inquired at UNLV a few times actually, and every time I've been told there's no positions.

Anyone have any suggestions as to alternative careers or how to find them specifically?

I know very little about looking for these types of jobs, but I know 3 or 4 docs that work for Cigna (in KC) looking over radiographs and proposed treatment plans.

Would you mind asking one of the cigna guys what their formal title is? I'm feel like I'm not searching for the right keywords or something.

I would say that if you are interested in an industry job, the coasts have more opportunities.

Upload your resume on dentalpost or contact a recruiting agency.

Dental radiology or pathology residency? Both have more limited patient interaction.

Big Hoss

I was thinking about oral path, but my grades weren't the best. I might just apply and see what happens though.

Thanks for the dentalpost recommendation, never heard of them. I'm not aware of any recruiting agencies. Can you name any for me? Thanks.

I only know of Scientific Search but that's primarily NJ and PA based.

Look around on LinkedIn or Google.

What about research? A lot of states are legalizing it... probably gonna be a big research field. I hear those test subjects are more chill when you see them.
