Generally, if you're put on an alternate list that means you still have a chance to get in, depending on how many accepted applicants decline their offers. I certainly wouldn't assume you're out at this point. You could try contacting the schools and see where you fall on each list. If there are hundreds of applicants ahead of you then you know your chances are nil, but if you're at the top of the list you might have a shot.

Depends on the school.

At my school, if the admissions committee doesn't think you are a good candidate for admission, you are rejected- we don't waitlist anyone who can't cut it. For us, waitlist means that you are a good candidate, but we can't offer you a seat right now.

Not every school operates this way.

No one is rejected at my school, they're just put on the wait list. As people decline, fail to meet last-minute requirements, etc, phone calls go out to WL'ers. I think at least one person in my class found out they would be a pharmacy student only a few weeks before orientation.

I don't want to hurt you, but if a person is put in alternative list, it almost always mean a rejection. There is a slim chance of being called later, but it is very very small.

I know that some schools went forty deep into their waitlist last year, and expect the same this year.

We've already pulled six folks off the waitlist this cycle, and it is still four-plus months until classes start.

As always, individual responses may vary...

As has been stated previously: it really depends on the school. (Where have you been waitlisted?)

I know for TAMUK, every applicant is put on a waitlist if not accepted immediately, and phone calls/letters of admission go out to the next person on the list as offers are declined.
For Texas Tech, "alternate status" emails were sent out recently, after which acceptance emails soon followed.

Stay +ve, you have good chances of slipping through one or more of those lists.

Out of the 3 schools I got accepted to, two of them had me on that list. One of them lasted for 2 weeks...the other, ~ a month.

But it was not any of the above schools that you have mentioned. Still, remain +ve about it ...and keep in touch with those schools as well. Good luck🙂

There is still a chance you might get in. I am currently P2 at harding. Depending where you sit on that list. I would call Mrs. Jones at Harding to let her know that your still interested. I did that when i got wait listed and couple of weeks later she called w/ good news that i got in. Good Luck

Harding is in Searcy. Did you mean to say "Searcy, AR"?

I was on an alternate list this year for a month before I got pulled off of it. Don't give up yet.
