Hi

I have an embarrassing 2.8 sGPA and a 18AA on my DAT (17 RC, 17 QR, 20 bio, 21 Gchem, and 20 Ochem).

I was wondering if there are any other ways for me to increase my chance of being accepted as a reapplicant other than going for SMP.

I was thinking of staying in taiwan (currently on vacation...not really) and start working as a dental assistant while studying for DAT for a whole year. Plan to retake DAT in May 2010 and with the new DAT score and new working experience as a dental assistant and turn in the application the first day it opens.

Will this be a feasible alternative...?

probably not. Your 2.8 sgpa shows admissions committees that you are unable to handle the rigors of a science class. Even if you kill your DAT (23+) you might not get in. Best to do a masters program (either 1 or 2yrs) in a hard science (bio, biochem,) or look into the SMP option (BU, UMDNJ, Barry, Nova, Tulane CMB, Midwestern, Tufts, i'm sure there are more...) and to do really well 3.8+. The work experience is a great assest to your application it will not make up for poor grades. Good luck!
