Alternatives to Risperdal

I've been on Risperdal since Fall of August 2006, and I have side effects like akathisia and restlessness and "thought-blocking", something that didn't occour before I got Risperdal.

I was adviced by a doctor to go on Risperdal Consta, and I have been on that for half a year, but I still have these side effects.

Are there any alternative anti-psychotics that does not produce these side effects?

The alternative anti-psychotics I have discussed with my psychiatrist were ruled out, as he said these produced other, but more serious side effects.

But I can't live with this any longer. Any suggestions?

There are plenty of things that can be done, but these issues need to be addressed by your own doctor, not by us because this violates the standard of care that doctors ethically must practice. We can't for example interview you in person, do a physical exam, or other things like that.

Call your doctor-and schedule an appointment & have him/her address the issue.
