Am I applying to too few schools? Only applied to 9 TMDSAS schools

Hello Everyone. I need advice please. I really want to attend medical school in Houston or Dallas. My family lives in the houston area and spouse will be in the houston area out of college. However, I am a little worried that I am applying to too little schools. What do y'all think? Should I apply to more schools to just give myself a shot at getting into one? Or should I apply knowing I want to stay in texas and hoping I have a good shot in getting into at least one. Thanks for the help guys.

My school lists and stats are below:

ORM, 518 MCAT, 4.0 GPA, Fourth Quartile Casper

Over 1,000 clinical expereince

400 volunteering hours (clinical + non-clinical)

List:

Baylor, UTSW, McGovern, U of H, Long, Dell, UTMB, Tech, and Texas A&M

If staying in the Houston area is that important to you, add SHSU. Your stats are high for them but you could write about why in secondaries.
Leaving off Tyler due to no East Texas connection is reasonable.
Dallas is not close to Houston but I get it, there is a quick plane flight both ways.
Tougher question, why would your spouse not join you wherever you go for medical school after they complete college?
