Hey ya'll, I'm sure most of ya'll went through the same thing during the application cycle, but I feel like I'm going crazy thinking about getting accepted into a school. My girlfriend tells me I'm being neurotic and underestimating my chances, but I'm the type of person who likes to be certain of things, or in the very least, assured. Basically, I'm asking ya'll if I have a good chance at getting accepted to any of these schools (mainly to calm my nerves), but please tell the truth. I've spent hours, possibly days, on the PTCAS directory and looking at each school. I'm just ready to get this application cycle finished with. P.S. I'm applying during the 2015-2016 cycle.

Thanks for any input!

Your stats look decent. However, depending on when you sent in your applications can play a factor upon getting accepted or not. Some schools do rolling admissions and the later you get your applications in, the less likely you'll gain an acceptance. Although other schools that don't do rolling admission, it's still best to get them in as early as you can. Have you received any interviews or updates from your choices?

Unfortunately there are no certainties in this process, or in the work of being a PT for that matter. One professor told me the most important quality in a PT is being able to embrace uncertainty because all patients respond to treatment differently or are not easily diagnosed. Your stats look really good, and I think you're well qualified to be accepted but it's just super competitive and there are no guarantees. I don't blame you for feeling neurotic, I'm right there with you!

That is more than enough schools for your to get at least on acceptance. If you LORs/essay/interview scores and your GRE are strong you'll probably get 3 or 4.

Obviously your chances will be better at the schools where your pre-req GPA is a 3.9 not a 3.6. Study hard for the GRE and nail a 160 on each section and you will be golden. Honestly if your GRE score is excellent you probably don't need to apply to all ten. I'd pick the 5 or 6 that you really would like to go to most (or the 5 or 6 that are cheapest!!) Maybe consider eliminating the schools where your pre-req is only a 3.6? It doesn't hurt to apply to more of course, it's just a matter of if you want to cough up that much money for application fees! But if if helps calm your nerves, 10 is not an unreasonable number.

Personally I had a 3.8 cGPA, 3.9 pGPA, 168V/158Q/5.0AW and got accepted to 3 out of 4 schools if that gives you a frame of reference. So there's always gonna be somebody who randomly rejects you, but you should be fine.

Sorry I probably look like I'm humble bragging... 😳 yikes...

I was just trying to prove the point that if the OP does well on the GRE, their stats won't be worlds away from mine, so they shouldn't be to worry. Don't assume you'll get into what you think is your top choice though, my state school was the one I got rejected from. This school weights their process heavily towards interview scores, and I guess one of my interviewers just decided they didn't like me or something.

I haven't applied yet, the application opens up in July, but I'll apply as early as I can, and no later than August.

Thanks for the input! Whenever I have down time, I'm studying for the GRE. I take it next month so hopefully that'll be enough time. My girlfriend also told me not to apply to so many schools, but I'm just being cautious. The rents are paying for the application fees so I decided why not.
