Next semester I'm lucky enough to have a choice of leadership positions in two different EC's. One of them is a STEM Teaching Program, where you essentially go around teaching students in inner-city schools over the summer (basic chemistry experiments and such). The other is ballroom dancing club, where I've been offered a dance teacher position! I love ballroom, best thing that's come out of college to be honest!

After mindlessly pursuing EC's that would "look great on an application" during HS, I just want to have fun in my free time in college.

Is choosing the ballroom position over the STEM opportunity foolish of me?

Go with the ballroom! Two reasons. First sounds like you enjoy it, and second most premeds ECs are teaching of some kind. So not only will it probably look better because you'll stand out, you'll be happier. Ballroom hands down.

Go with the EC that you're most interrested in. To me sounds like the ballroom position is top choice! Specially since you sound passionate about it.

You would not be foolish to choose the ballroom dancing teaching job over the STEM one. Not only is it unique; but you should be doing what you are passionate doing and, by the sounds of it, that would be the ballroom dancing.

You would be foolish, in my opinion, if you were to choose to pass up on the ballroom dancing because you or anyone else thinks that the STEM job would look better on an application.

Ballroom!! There are probably many, many pre-meds doing science tutoring type ECs, so it'll be good to set yourself apart.

The teaching experience is going to look good regardless of where it comes from - STEM or dance - so pick the one you enjoy the most.
