I'm 24 and I have a bachelor of science in nursing, and work as an RN, but now doing the few classes I need to apply to med school. I have never actually left academia, seeing how I graduated with a Bach. Science in Nursing, and the next semester began some premed pre-reqs. I don't think I am, but a fellow student was talking to me about me being one. I didn't think I was.

Why does it matter?

Scholarship reasons. I will find out on Monday to see if I qualify, I'm just curious now to see if I fit that criteria.

No one here could possibly know what the criteria used for that scholarship would be without knowing what exactly the scholarship is. Check with the people in charge of the scholarship, check online at the scholarship's website, or wait to hear back. :luck:

Non-trad is a blanket term for anyone who did not matriculate directly out of UG.

For a scholarship nobody can tell you what they considered nontrad.

Defining nontrad is difficult, it is probably easier to describe a traditional premed and you decide where you fall.

Traditional: have wanted to be a Dr for some time, often since childhood, most likely have never held another career. Single or newlywed, few or no kids, age 22-25 (avg age to matriculate is ~24), no mortgage or large financial burdens.

Non trad: anything else.
