I'm applying for the entering class of 2012 pharmacy school. On my transcript I have 4 C's and 1 W (all of which I plan to retake)...

Gen Chem 1- C
Gen Chem 2- C
Organic 1 - C
Pre-calculus- C
Calculus 1- Withdrawal

I'm currently retaking Organic 1 and am looking at a high B or low A.

I'm also taking the Calculus 1 class and looking at a high B or low A as well...

As for General chem 1, 2, and pre-calculus, I plan on taking them any where between now and fall of this year...

I'm trying to ace everything.

My current GPA is a 3.32 (don't even know if it'll raise much higher considering I ace all of these classes...)

I really wanna be accepted into pharmacy school.

Do you think I am doomed even if I retake these classes considering pharmacy looks a lot at your chemistry courses and I have 3 C's in them?

Also in my Bio 1 and 2 I have B's and in Anatomy 1 and 2 I have A's...

It's just those 4 classes and the 1 withdrawal which were killing me.

Help.

nahh your not doomed but the odds are against you...just tear up the pcat and you shouldn't have any problems

You're good. I wouldn't even bother retaking the GenChems.

If you get a B+ or A in Organic I, and an B+ or A in Organic II
and like the previous posters have said, do well on your PCAT (aim for 85+ composite and 90+ in Chemistry),

I'd say you'd be pretty set (academically) to get in, as your 3.3 GPA isn't that bad;

I got C's in both gen chem and orgo (4 total) and 2 withdrawals. I had a LOT of extra curriculars and good rec letters, plus tech experience. Next year I'm going to UNC.

Anything is possible!

Does your school not have a re-take/average policy? At UT, if you re-take a course, the grades will average out so with a C the first time around, you can only hope to average out to a B (and that's only if you make an A the second time around!)

I guess it all boils down to (1) where you're applying, (2) whether you improve your grades (in NEW courses, not necessarily retaking old ones), and (3) how well you do on the PCAT (a solid PCAT score could help balance out your GPA).

I remember at some of the health professional panels I've attended, many doctors laughed off a C in organic chemistry. It happens. =\

If you re-take all these courses, you're really just prolonging the process...will you be able to finish all your pre-reqs on time? It may or may not be worth it. People have gotten into pharmacy schools with lower GPA's than what you have. I think the key is to show improvement in your subsequent coursework (and rock the PCAT)!
