Hi everyone so I've been working my butt off to improve VR since November because I am so worried about it. I've been trying to do 2-3 passages a day with questions. I do miss some days...and some days I do more. I started off doing 2 passages a day, and am slowly working up to 4 passages. I've been started to take up recreational reading (difficult content).

Here is a summary of my scores
Kaplan 1 (Summer 09) : | 11 PS | 10 VR | 10 BS| Total: 31
Kaplan 2 (Summer 09): | 13 PS | 7 VR | 11 BS| Total: 31
Kaplan 3 (Summer 09): | 11 PS | 10 VR | 14 BS| Total: 35
Kaplan 4(Summer 10): | 8 PS | 11 VR | 10 Bs | Total: 29
Kaplan 5(Summer 10): | 13PS | 7 VR | 14 BS | Total : 34
Kaplan 6(Winter 11): | 9PS | 12 VR | 12 BS | Total 33
AAMC 3 (Summer 09) : | 12 PS | 8 VR | 12 BS| Total: 32
AAMC 4 (Summer 09) : | 11 PS | 10 VR | 9 BS| Total: 30
AAMC 5 (Summer 09) : | 10 PS | 10 VR | 11 BS| Total : 31
AAMC 6 (Summer 09): | 11 PS | 8 VR | 14 BS| Total : 33

As you can see I most recently took a test a few days ago, using a Kaplan FL and I scored a 12 on Verbal. My question for everyone is, did I actually improve? Is Kaplan FL #6 VR actually difficult or is it easier and me getting a 12 is a fluke. I need some advice!

Here is a list of my scores ever since I started preparing. Due to school/work I've had to take time off here and there, and now I'm studying while working full-time which is wearing me out. Any advice for how to improve my scores at this point would be great. I will do anything I can to get better.

I am planning on taking the test at the end of April.

I'm not sure I really understand your timeline here. Winter 2011 hasn't come yet... Unless you meant Winter 2010 😉 Anyhow, it's hard to analyze how much improvement you're having when you've only displayed the results above. From what I can see you're scoring consistent 7s to 10s. However, the 12 you got does show definite improvement.

What practice materials are you using daily to prep your verbal, out of curiosity?

Kaplan is useless. I was scoring 14s on their verbal.

I ended up with an 11 on the real deal. Kaplan curves are far too generous.

I would honestly say that the best representative is the AAMC tests. Those seem to have the same caliber of thought associated with the real test.
