Hello! This is my first post ever in SDN and I just need opinions if I should postpone my test. My test is next week on Monday and I need an AA in the 20s. Here are my Achiever scores.

Achievr1 Achiever 2

PA 18 20
QR 16 16
RC 16 16
BIO 17 17
GC 17 15
OC 16 17
:scared:

I have taken all Kaplan practice tests and I have gotten either a 17, 18, or 19 on them.
Tomorrow I take the 3rd Achiever and then the 3 Topscores.

I am review MATH Destroyer for QR since everyone says it is the best and I seem to suck at it during crunch time.

RC is surprisingly lower than what I expect so hopefully practice will help with that.

I don't know! I've been studying for about 3 months and I don't see how I can be scoring this low 😕. Please let me know if you have any advice!!!!!

Thank YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ignore the Achiever scores
but make sure you learn the stuff from the Achiever though
Achiever is way much harder than the real DAT but it prepares you in many ways.
It is a good practice exam, and also it prepares you from panicing when you see a hard question etc...

if you want more please visit my DAT (TS25 AA23 PAT23) breakdown

wow you did very well! Congratulations! I just can't decide if I am prepared to get a score in the 20s on Monday. Maybe I should decide after taking the topscore exams?

This is one reason why I didn't buy achiever. Whats the point of even scoring somthing if you are going to be so far off that its not even close to being relative to your actual scores. From what I heard, 16-17 on achiever is like scoring 20+ on your DAT so you should be fine.

I'm taking my DAT on Monday the 16th as well. I'm freaking out! How do you relax?

I'm also taking it next Monday. Let's form a club haha! And I don't know how to relax. I just keep forcing myself to study because any down time I have I worry. 🙁

For what it's worth, here are my achiever scores.

Ach1 Ach2 Ach3
PAT 18 18 17
QR 18 18 18
RC 17 18 17
BIO 16 16 17
GC 18 15 15
OC 18 19 18
TS 17 17 17

For test two and three I ran out of time on gen chem (I always do bio, ochem, then gen chem). And for the third test I ended up with 3 minutes left for pattern folding haha.... :scared: FML. Back to studying.

I'm also taking mine on the 16th!!!
I know how you guys feel,..... I can't stop freaking out about this test!!!:scared:😡😱😕

What are you guys doing this last week?

I've been just re-reading Cliff's and redoing destroyer.
Oh yea and of course practice CDP for PAT.
I'm also using datqvault to solve more math problems....

gosh I wish we get the easy test..... 😀

We have created a 16th team it seems! 😍
This week I will take the topscore tests and I have been reviewing Destroyer and touching up on topics that I might not remember. Standard stuff.

For relaxing, I try to make my study environment relaxed and while it is true that this is an important test that will help our future, you have no choice but to be positive and have low anxiety. Just remind yourself that it will not help if it paralyzes you. Also, if I see that I'm losing it a little, I'll watch 10 minutes of Friends just to remind myself that life will go on 😎

Just remind yourself that you will be fine regardless and if necessary, a person can take it again.

Hope we all do well on Monday!!!!

We have a July 16th Club! I'm trying to tell myself that I'll be okay, but there are so much unknowns with this test. Which sections will be hard? Easy?

During the last week I'm finishing up DAT Destroyer and Math Destroyer for the first time (almost done) and then going back to review the ones I didn't get right. Finishing up CDP-10 test version (Scores 21-20-21-21-23-25-23), Finishing up Cliffs AP bio and studying Orgo like a madman because it's my weakest section.

We should have a name. Like Team 16, or maybe something more refined... like Club Kickass 😎

My week is going to be very similar. Mainly just reviewing what I had trouble with on practice tests and trying to convince myself that what I've done is enough. I've spent the last two months doing nothing but studying for this test. This will be the best I can do in the time allotted.

I don't know what I'm going to do after the test. Probably something crazy like buy all the slushies from Sonic.

How are you doing so well on CDP?
I've been getting like 18, 19, 20.....so far.... I can't seem to break that 20!

Any quick tips on anything???

I started studying PAT before anything else and started out with Kaplan, which for the most part was way too easy. I decided (after finishing Kaplan) to get CDP and have been doing a practice test roughly every other day since. It's hard for me to give you hints on how to succeed here because every test I've taken I have had a different section that I've struggled with. I'll try to explain my strategy. Let me know if this helps you!

Keyholes: Look for some distinguishing feature of the object and figure out how to fit it through the hole. Make sure all the different features match the keyhole. Some of the answers they give are sneaky!

TFE: Not my favorite (spend lots of time here). I try to visualize the 3D object, this is what works for me. Others say it takes too long. Line counting can't be relied upon. Some times it yields the wrong answers.

Angles: First glance always wins here. This is a tough section, but you just have to do your best.

Hole-Punching: The only way to go is by drawing the 4x4 grids and marking the holes as you unfold the paper in your head. Again, challenging.

Cube Counting: This is a section that I always tend to nail. I count the cubes, front to back and left to right and make something like this on my scrap paper: 2 4 3 1 5 3 2 4 3 5 4 2 3 3 3 2 1. When I'm all done, I go back and count the ones I need to to answer the questions. Works well and it's fast!

Pattern Folding: Similar to keyholes actually. I look for a distinguishing feature (maybe the pattern on one side, etc.) and look through the answers starting A to D and just eliminate choices as I prove them wrong. When I find the "correct" answer, I still check the other choices to make sure I'm right.

Let me know if this helps. Thanks and good luck!!

For pattern folding, is it possible to fold it one way or the other?
Or could it be only folded one way?

I just took Topscore test 1 and got 19 Bio, 17 GC, 18 OC.
Did any of you guys take it yet??

I'm freaking out...:scared::scared::scared:

Don't freak out. Topscore is supposedly harder than the real DAT. The important thing is that you go over what you missed and understand your mistakes. Try not to place so much emphasis on the scores. Use it as a way to see what you really need to focus on this last week. I've only taken the achiever tests so far, but I'm going to take the first Topscore tomorrow and I'll let you know how it goes. Achiever really helped me understand some of the concepts I'm missing/confused about for general chemistry, and it's been great practice for PAT. Plus, taking these full length tests is a good way to build the mental stamina for the real deal. Don't get bogged down in your scores. We got this 👍

Also, for angle ranking, I always compare the angles to 90 and 180 degrees. It works really well for me.

Wow, thanks for the clarification on the pattern folding....
I just took a test and got a 21! I know its nothing compared to yours but hopefully I can get at least a 19 on the real DAT. 😀

That's great! No worries. You will do fine. I took a Kaplan full length test today and did not do very well. I got a 19 AA, which is good but my TS was only a 17. Organic is killing me. The orgo section today had 17/30 synthesis problems. Like here is X and we are going to react it with Y and what is the product. I did terrible on them. Do you really think there are going to be that many on the exam???

On the bright side, reading, PAT (although it's Kaplan) and math were all good!

I don't think you should worry too much about ochem. People have been saying that the questions are very straight forward concept questions along with less than 5 reaction/synthesis problems. I think the main point to get across is the concepts itself. Make sure you are solid on that 🙂

You are definitely right about the concepts. I didn't really know about this site until a week before my DAT and I had no idea that there would be so few reactions (those are what I'm best at) so I ended up doing badly. But overall, the test isn't too bad. Just watch some stupid tv or something to take your mind off of the stress (I recommend scrubs XD)

How is everyone else's last weekend of studying going? Are you studying on the Sunday before the test? I'm getting pretty nervous about this whole thing!! I took the 2007 ADA Sample Test Today and did really well on the sciences, but I've heard that its so much easier. Any thoughts or opinions from the July 16th group??

I took topscore test 2 (AA20) today and did better than the first (18). I'm planning on taking the last one tomorrow. Nothing too intense...but some more practice on PAT and QR..... gosh I just hope I can get a 18 on QR. I didn't spend too much time studying for the math section......

How did you do on topscore??

What time are you guys taking the test on monday??

My test is at 3. How about you? I'm actually looking forward to tomorrow, because I'm just reviewing my notes for a few hours and then going out with some friends.

I know what you mean about QR... it's my worst section. I always run out of time for it on practice tests.

My test is at 11:30. I'm done studying now! It's surreal. I'm super nervous about RC. What is everyone's plan. Does search and destroy still work? That's what I've practiced In conjunction with Kaplans outlining method. It's been working okay for me,
But what do you guys think??

I'm taking mine at 1pm. By now, reddevils13 probably got a start on it!!
Good luck to everyone!! Hopefully we will all get some amazing scores and become dentists!!!

Today at 4:30!!!! I know...sooo late but it was all that was left. I wish everyone the best and those of you who took it I hope it was what you wanted.

First off with all sections especially QR, Reading, PAT I can barely if that finish the section.
All sections make me want to rip my brain out, this is my second time and I need to kick ass. PLEASE HELP!

I have done destroyer 100 times I dont look sometimes because I had it memorized from round 1. QR and Bio are toughest for me.

test 4:
PAT 17
QR 18
(i guessed on most, tons of trig i had no clue)
RC 18
bio 16
GC 16
OC 16
AA 17

test 5:
PAT 17
RC 17
QR 14 😕😕😕
Bio 17
GC 15
OC 17
AA 16

my scores went down. what do you guys think!!! I am freaking out
