Am I just going to receive a generic letter of recommendation from this place?

Ok, I will be volunteering at a hospital this week. I was going through all the paper work they had me fill out and one of the sheets indicated that if I need a LOR, then I have to contact "so and so person at a certain office". The problem is that this person is the director of the volunteer dept, who does not see volunteers helping others. I was really hoping to receive a LOR from someone whom I volunteer under and directly interact with during my volunteer time, e.g. doctors, nurses, etc from the dept I volunteer. Basically, will I be receiving a generic letter of recommendation from this place? You know..the one with fill in the blanks.

Yes. It'll probably be generic. I'd just find a doc you work with that you know well and ask him/her to write something for you. If you don't have anyone like that, then you're not going to get a meaningful rec from anyone there. I'd venture most standard volunteer positions don't end up as recs on your app. In fact, I think I only had 1 physician write me a letter for my application and I turned out fine.
