I do just enough to get through the day.

I do my homework that is due the next day.
I do it all before I go to sleep, no time to enjoy myself.

But I could be doing more/working harder and then have some free time.

Did I just burn out already?

Don't get me wrong, I can write the best paper ever two hours before it's due, but give me the whole day and it'll be just as good, if not worse and I won't get anything else done.

do you enjoy yourself? like do you see the light at the end of the tunnel through these long days of undergrad?

How are your grades?

I ask because I had the same issues my sophomore year, but I also had like a 3.95 GPA at the time. When I took my questions to an academic advisor, she simply told me that whatever I'm doing is working for me, so I should stick with it. She also said that I truly care about my grades, my habits will change once I encounter some harder classes. And if I don't care about my grades, then there's no way I'll ever force myself to change my study habits. She was right. When I took some more difficult classes, I studied more and worked harder to maintain a high GPA.

So if your GPA isn't suffering, keep doing what you're doing.

I think it helps if you make set plans with your friends to hang out. If you know that you'll be gone for a certain amount time during the day, you'll be forced to adjust your study schedule and get stuff done. I'm the same way -- I could spend the whole day working on a paper that could otherwise be done in a couple of hours (on a time crunch).

Also, when you sit down to study, is that the only thing you focus on or are you also distracted by other things (FB, reddit, etc.)? That's a form of procrastination, too. If you put stuff off till the very last minute, you'll never truly have the chance to relax. It'll be on the back of your mind the whole time which can be super stressful.

Of course, to an extent. I often get sad that there may not be a light because of my struggle to stay motivated.

Well they're about average. Not MCAT worthy, I hope to get higher grades once I'm done with pre-reqs.

Exactly, but if I do stuff I enjoy or even dedicate more time to EC's, won't it be at the back of my mind too?
