I am planning to take the MCAT 6/18. I have done AAMCs 3-7 and got a 30 or 31 on all. My aim is a 32.
Am I ready for the test next week? I think I know content but not sure I have the technique of the test down. Sometimes I get more discretes right and sometimes more of the passage questions.

Opinions?

Take AAMCs 8-10, tie up any loose ends, and demolish the MCAT. Stay confident and get plenty of rest during the homestretch. :luck:

Based on my experience and what I've heard from other people, it is common to do a bit better on the real MCAT than your practice tests (then again, maybe the people I talk to are just weird). Don't count on the magic of test day adrenaline, though.
One thing that sort of stands out of the fact that you got the same score on all your practice tests. Why didn't they improve? Make sure you go through your old tests and really analyze your weak areas beyond just "discretes versus passages". If you are smart about how you prepare it is not unreasonable that you could pull up your score by a point.

Everyone I've talked to scores 3-5 points less on the MCAT than your average practice score. I would plan on that, especially if this is the first time taking the test.

However, if you're spending time thinking about the scale, you're using time that you could be improving weak points.

It's a beast of a test. Get the content down to the point where you can relax. That's crucial.

"Am I ready?"

That is something only YOU can answer.

The scores that you have gotten on the AAMCs are really good, specially since they are very close to your goal. Just be confident and take the exam on 6/18.

Contrary to the other two posters who said you either score a few points higher or lower, I scored almost exactly the same as practice tests and think that most people seem to do that too. Since you're getting 30-31, i would estimate that you'd get between 29-32 on the real thing but with a little imporvement in the next week and a half maybe you could get 30-33. If that's a score you'd be happy with I'd say you're ready.

i am almost in your exact situation. My goal is a 34 but the last 5 tests i took i scored in the 30-36 range so im hoping for a little nudge to make that 34 on june 18th. Good luck!!!

WOOHOO! 34 on AAMC 8. Still 9 and 10 to go...

Nice! You can never be fully ready but as long as you are in a decent range, go and kill it. Watch out for the nerves in the beginning of PS... they unexpectedly got to me bad. I didn't think I was going to be that nervous as I was fine all morning, wrong.

Just do the opposite of this and you will be fine.

I think the people you talked to must have really, really choked on the real thing. This definitely isn't the norm to plan on scoring up to 5 points lower...I think more realistically it is a +/- range of 2 based on your AAMC tests (especially 7-10)

Sounds good to me, Good Luck, :xf:I plan to take the MCAT in August, I am studying diligently. The best method to attack this test is to not overthink and reason well within your scope of knowledge and youll do fine. One of my cousins is a MS2 and she is a full believer in Kaplan as the sheer indicator of how well your going to do. So with those scores on a practice test you should do even better on the real test. Im aiming for a 40! Im a perfectionist at heart. You can never do enough to review in my opinion. Eat, Breathe, Meditate, and become the test. After its all over and you have a fabo score have a drink! Positive Thinking and Review what you missed and youll be fine.
