I am a senior and going through fall semester right now. I JUST now realized that some dental schools I want to apply to (e.g Tufts) has biochemistry as a requirement. I never thought about it because my major is biology and it is not required. Other schools like Uconn says "strongly recommended to take biochem". I see now it's too late for me to take it and I cant take biochem II as the prereq for it is biochem I.. For those that say strongly recommended, am I going to have a hard time being considered? I'm really shocked right now cuz tufts was one of my top choices..and my gpa isn't even good to begin with: 3.2gpa, 3.1sgpa

I know someone who got accepted to tufts and was somewhat in your situation. He took it in the summer.. So id say your still ok

What's the course of action? Sorry for the further question, but can anyone tell me what kind of chances I have, or how this works..I'm stressing out so hard right now.

So you are a senior going through fall semester?

take it online, that would be the easiest.

i'm pretty sure the college i go to takes no credits from anywhere else other than the school itself. yea senior in fall semester.

Do you need the credit? I don't think it matters where you take the prerequisites. I took some chemistry pre-reqs at a different university and it didn't count towards my undergrad.

Does your university offer Bioc I next semester or in the summer? Tufts says just 1 semester of bioc is enough. You don't have to have your pre-reqs done prior to applying, you just have to have them done prior to matriculation.

If your university doesn't offer Bioc I, like others have said, there is the option of taking it at a different university. It doesn't have to count towards your degree at your current school. As long as you send in the transcript from the new school to AADSAS, you will be fine.

I don't need the credits..so it won't hurt my chances too badly? My application won't be considered incomplete without the prereqs will it?

thanks for the info ><. almost had a heart attack today..i just don't want it to hurt my chances since my gpa is already low to begin with.
