I applied to Mt Sinai through ERAS. I had every indication they were participating. I had talk to the contact ERAS listed. Frieda says they are participating even as late a November 2004. I just contacted the PD and he says they are not taking ERAS. Unless I am the only ***** who applied, seems a bit deceiptful that ERAS won't give back the fee. Oh just pour that salt into the wounds.

As a matter of fairness I am trying to get the fee back for everyone. I need to know how many people this may have happened to. Look at the Frieda Posting Below (Noting the Date):

Unfortunately, no matter the situation, ERAS will NOT refund anything back. I went thru the same thing...a program was on ERAS, I applied to it, then decided then recant. I contacted ERAS, and they said unfortunatley no. However, if you can somehow convince the good people at Mt. Sinai to refund...though I find it unlikely...

So after much emailing and a request to refund all who applied to Mt Sinai for the RadOnc program, I got an offer to refund my application fee. I feel this was a just settlement and encourage all those who felt that on top of this process being absolutely agonizing to contact the address below for thier refund as well. Good luck all. Here is a copy of the most recent correspondence:

The reference you made represents a flaw in our information which I've
asked staff to correct. Freida nor the Green Book is a definitive
source of which programs are participating in ERAS. The reason we ask
applicants to contact the programs directly is because those files
become obsolete almost as soon as they're posted. They're only as good
as programs going in to update them.

While I'm not convinced that the program told you they were
participating in ERAS this year, I do reognize that our information
provided in Ms. Randolph's e-mail is a bit misleading with regard to how
you should contact programs to find out about their participation in
            ERAS.

In order for Ms. Randolph to process the $25 credit, she will need your
credit card information (name on card, card number, expiration date) as
we do not store that information once your payment is processed. Please
forward that information to her as soon as possible.

            Best wishes,

            B. Renee Overton

Hey - I'm actually going to Mt. Sinai for rad onc next year and the way it works is that they only have six residency spots in total, so they take two one year, ,two the next, two after that, and then they skip a year. So, there's no funny business going on like 'outside the match' stuff. Just wanted to clear that up. Now, good luck with your search and applications - it's super frustrating, I know, but believe me - it feels great when it's all over. ryan

Does this mean that Sinai took someone outside the match?

Any info about other programs that may have already offered someone a spot outside the match?
