What if he's from their pre-med program. Like right after High school they offered hm a full ride to go get his MD in 6 years and boost thier stats, because after all he was probably the only one who passed step 1.

Acer I'd get an Iconia. Gateway/E-machine aren't a whole lot better, but they have more personable support staff so, yeah. HP has, in my experience, the worst support and the worst system architecture in the industry. Stamped steel cases without rolled edges, needing complete disassembly to remove anything in the case and that whole board tattoo system makes me want to kill babies by smothering them with freshly dead puppies. I wouldn't even let the thing into my house for fear it would somehow rub off some of its evil on one of my other systems...
