I mean honestly, I have never studied this much for a class in my entire life and I am barely pulling a C...... a C!! Did I mention that I study everyday and i have a C? Either my teacher has a goal to crush my dreams or my brain cannot access the atomic structure of Cs. Furthermore, it isn't even that I do not like the subject, I find it interesting enough, but a C? I have an A in all my classes this semester yet I am further haunted by C, C for Chemistry. Not to mention this is my first semester of Chem, not even chem 2! Does anyone have any studying suggestions or am I at a complete loss and just become a high school teacher?!

Go with teaching high school... just don't screw the poor kids over by teaching any science class

Contact your Student Support Services and obtain a tutor. There are usually tutors offered for a variety of subjects. Some of the pre-reqs to be a tutor include instructor LOR, high class grade, competency of the subject. You really can't go wrong with tutoring and do not miss out on it because of some "stigma" a few people generate.

That sucks cuz I obtained A's in both gen chem 1 and 2 and then came orgo ..::sigh:: .. b+ in orgo 1 and orgo 2 well.. i got a final left.. and things arent looking that much better 🙁

best of luck w orgo buddy

Just keep working- I got an A in chem 1 but then was in a car wreck and didn't study much for chem 2 result was a C.... Organic 1 was the worst experience of my life- I nearly jumped to the ceiling when I got the C in there lol... I nearly cried the first day entering Organic 2 but somehow that semester I met one of my now good friends who is a chemistry genius and after a gazillion hours studying I got an A (and an awesome LOR!)

Never give up- try to find someone who knows the subject to help you. I have a couple friends that pulled me through Organic 2 and I have helped them in some biology based courses.

Maybe your teacher curves at the end....What does your class average look like?? Work harder, and do alot of practice problems.

I don't know, I think ochem is easier than gen chem, but I'm not much of a math person. Of course, the last ochem test I took was probably the 2nd hardest test I've taken in college, behind the gen chem 2 final.

i've taken gen chem in hs, college, and re-taught it to myself for the MCAT...and i still don't get it. (orgo made more sense to me). don't sweat it too much - get help and keep plugging. one C won't automatically kill your chances 🙂

there is one person with an A in the class and it is an -A.... but his dad is a chemistry teacher. The class average on all of the test so far have been straight C's across the board. 😱

they have to hand out more A's at the end or else your professor gets in trouble. at least that's how it is with my school.

is it the concepts you're not getting or is it just the test that's impossible? figure out what you're doing wrong and go from there.

i'm not saying that you will, but even if you get a C, it won't kill you as long as your overall GPA is decent

one last thing, definitely find tutoring at your school. usually tutors have tutored for a professor for several quarters, so they know what the professor's teaching/testing style is like. try going to office hours, too.

i suck at chem too. i have my ACS final next week and am sweating it.

my advice would be the same as another persons...just work problems ad nauseum. i've found the ACS study guide to be a better study aid for me than the text book or online HW problems. maybe try the ACS book?
