I believe the Loupes would be tailored to your prescription. I’m sure there have been other dental students with eye issues as well. Is your amblyopia being treated?

It was treated when I was younger. I would cover one eye and I would wear glasses for reading. Now, I don't have any problems, no eye strain or anything when doing regular tasks. I do however, wear prescription glasses just for when I intend to be reading a lot, but it's more of a preventative measure than anything. I haven't had to look through any microscopes except for lab courses and during those cases I wasn't wearing my eye glasses or contacts. I presume actually wearing contacts or reading glasses would when trying to use binocular vision?? not sure. I'm going to be seeing an optometrist this week. I just wanted to see if there are students/dentists who can give me insight.

OK I understand that Billy. That’s good you’re seeing an optometrist this week. Hopefully some dental students/dentists offer some advice soon. Good luck!

Hi I'm a predental student and I have amblyopia in one eye. My good eye has 25/20 vision and my other eye has slightly blurry vision. When I look through a microscope lens, I noticed it was difficult to see a focused image without closing my bad eye. Is this going to be a problem if I am wearing loupes? Thanks

Do you have corrective lenses (contacts/glasses) to improve the difference in vision? My left eye gets a little lazy when I'm reading or when I'm very tired. I haven't had any issues in the last 3 years. In my opinion, the loupes have helped. I can think of three occasions in the last three years. All towards the end of the day where I've needed to excuse myself from the operatory to give my eyes a break for a minute.
