AMC exam and NZ exam

Is the AMC MCQ section scored pass fail or a number digit?

Same question for the NZ exam.

I am intersted in getting an intern position in Australia or New Zealand. I know I need to pass one or both of the exams.

The fee to take the AMC exam seems extremely expensive. Somewhere around $2000 Aus. Is this correct? Is the exam available to take in North America?

What about the cost for the NZ exam? Does anyone know if I need the NZ exam before applying for a NZ intern position? Can I take this in North America?

Any help in gaining an intern position is greatly appreciated.

I read that NZ and AUS are very particular about the health of the overseas doctors and won't let them in. I have several medical problems, so I will stay here rather than pay the huge cost to test and see if they will be kind and let me get a visa....too much risk.

I'm no real expert concerning Oz and NZ issues, but I am pretty sure that entering directly into an internship position in NZ from overseas is impossible. The latest requirement for a foreign MD is to have at least 3 years of working experience after graduation. Sitting the AMC will not help either in this case.

With regard to the AMC exams, to my knowledge, at least the written part can be taken abroad. There seem to be test centers all around the globe, from Frankfurt, Hyderabad to Japan, but none in North America.
