Is it true that A+ grades are automatically changed to A's on the app? So does that mean theres no point to get A+'s?
Yeah, my one, lonely A+ is on there.
Really. My friend has been verified and she said all hers were converted to A's. Luckily my committee was thoughtful in this matter and addressed my A+'s in my letter...
I may be wrong, but I don't think the A+'s are changed to A's. I think that it's just that they're both counted as 4.0 when calculating GPAs. So it's pointless in that your GPA won't change, but adcoms will still notice that you absolutely dominated the class (as opposed to merely kicking its ass) when looking over your transcript.
Actually all A+ should be downgraded to A's. They count for the same points so they are irrelevant. If there are those with A+, AMCAS has really be shoddy lately. They have been bumping people up with the signs to "even out the playing field" or ensure that these changes are "not mistakes". I was verified early on when they were on the ball that my AMCAS adhered to their policy and my transcript to give me a GPA that I deserved. 🙄

This happened to me as well. It's strange because some of my A+'s were recorded and some weren't. I doubt if it matters anyway since it's still a 4.0 when it comes to figuring gpa. I don't know why most of my science A+'s were changed to A's while most of my non-science A+'s were kept. As a side note I think it sucks that an A- is a 3.75 (I think, depends on your school) while an A+ remains the same as an A.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I reviewed my AMCAS and found they didn't convert my single A+ either. I was verified early, too (mid-June). Maybe it depends on who reviews your application. It's not a big deal.
You can't get higher than a 4.0 on AMCAS. So if your school gives a 4.3 for A+ (some do), you lose that 0.3. Whether the A+ still shows up on AMCAS is irrelevant because the school is going to focus on GPA. So I would argue that there is very little point to getting an A+ over an A.
