Hey everyone,

I had a question regarding one of my activities. I wanted to explore some other health field careers so I joined the pre-dental club on my campus for approximately 2 semesters. After the experience and shadowing of doctors over the summer, I found that I prefer medicine over dental.

My question was: should I still include the pre-dental club as one of the activities on my application? What do you guys think? Is it bad to include this because it means that at a point of my life, I was hesitant where I should go and that I wasn't dead-set on medicine.

Thanks for reading.

I would still list it. Just make sure you say your passion changed and list why.

If you list it, be ready to explain why medicine over dentistry in an interview. I would list it.

Unless you have very few ECs I don't think listing it is going to give you any significant advantage. I would leave it off to avoid the "ohhh so you were interested in dentistry...". Inevitably they will ask you why you are interested in medicine, at that point you can include the fact that you explored dentistry into your answer.

I don't think being in a club is that exciting of an activity to list anyway unless you had a serious leadership role in the club. Would say the same if it was the pre-med club instead of pre-dent club.

Or if you did a bunch of volunteering with the club, then I would definitely list it.
