My CC cumulative GPA is 2.8. I’m currently enrolled in a senior college, just started.

I retook some courses in my CC. When calculating my amcas GPA, would I have to take the average grade of original and retaken courses and use that number? I was figuring that 2.8 is what amcas would get since it’s my cGPA, so do I still have to go back and take the averages of the retaken courses?

All courses are averaged together.

So if I got an F in marketing and then retook it and got an A, would amcas take the average of those two grades or will they both be counted?
ALL of the classes you have taken count towards your AMCAS GPA. No grade forgiveness. No grade replacement. Doesn't matter how many times you happen to take a class, or whether it's at a CC or 4 year UG.

In your example, it wouldn't matter whether it's 6 credits at a 2.0 average or 3 credits at a 4.0 and 3 credits at a 0.0. Either will have the same exact impact on your cGPA. If 2.8 is your calculated CC GPA, it is highly likely that your AMCAS cGPA will be lower if you have retaken classes, since most schools have a grade forgiveness or replacement policy, and AMCAS does not.

You don't need to go back and calculate the average of classes you have retaken. You just need to include everything in your calculation, whether or not your CC dropped anything in calculating your GPA.

Yes both are counted and averaged together.

Just now I added all of the grades together and then divided by the total number of courses taken. I actually took more courses because I withdrew from some but I read that AMCAS doesn’t calculate those (Ws) into students’ GPA so I left them out. I got a lower GPA like you said. I got 2.3. Is that what AMCAS will get?

If you did it correctly, yes. The key is to remember to weight by the number of credits associated with each course, rather than treating them all the same (i.e., 1 credit labs count for less, 4 credit classes count for more than 3 credit, etc.). Ws don't count. Neither do Ps or Fs in P/F classes.
